Teams

Development League

The Development League is for beginners, the teams are informal, and the rules are more relaxed than in the higher leagues. It aims to give new and developing volleyball players, or those who are a bit rusty, the chance to get some match experience in a friendly league. We currently have two teams in this league and it is a great way to get into volleyball. 

Local League

The Local League is the next level up from the Development League and is composed of teams from around the Norwich and Great Yarmouth area. We currently have two Men's teams, two Women's teams, and three Mixed teams in this league.

Spikers 1 (Mens)

The Spikers mens first team is managed by our club Secretary Ann-Marie who also coaches the team during the later slot on Wednesday evenings. Training sessions for the first teams are intense and players have to show their best to play at the top end of the club. Although the team has historically finished towards the top of the local league, the successes this season have meant that they are currently in 1st position. The team is made up of players of all sizes, ages and levels of experience but they play, train and socialise together to ensure they are a strong team on court. All of the team are keen to help others, so if you see any of them about on training or game nights, please do say hello or ask their advice!

Infernos (Mens)

​Infernos is the Spikers men's 2nd team and is the starting point for players wanting to play in the mens team, with it being a stepping stone to Men's 1, Eastern Region, and NVL. Coached and captained by Pete Moore, the ethos of the team is to give everyone a chance to play provided they have been regular attendees to training. We also try and ensure we have fun and enjoy our volleyball. As players progress they may then be considered for moving on to Mens 1 (subject to space and ability). Infernos train every Tuesday at Easton College and also take part in the main Wed session. We are currently 4th in the men's Local League and are regularly scrapping it out with Medusa, GYGVC, and other clubs.

Mixfits (Mixed)

Spikers Mixfits is a fun but competitive team that takes part in the Local League mixed 2nd division in Norwich. Mixfits is a great team for players to take that leap from Dev league into the Local League. Coached and captained by Pete Moore, we have a mix of experience and youth. We train every other Tuesday at Easton College as well as attending the main Wednesday session. This year we have been involved in many close scraps and battles in the Local League and have been improving throughout the season.

Eastern Region

The Eastern Region League includes teams from all over East Anglia. We currently have one Men's team and one Women's team in this league.

National League

The National League is composed of teams from all over the country as is one of the highest leagues for competitive play. We currently have one Men's team in division 2 of the National League, and one Women's team in division 3.

Norwich Spikers Men

The Spikers mens National Volleyball League team is the highest level the men play at within the club. They are managed by the club Secretary Ann-Marie who coaches and organises the team. Players from across the Norfolk Volleyball Association make up the roster including Spikers, Pirates and UEA players. 
During the 2015-16 season the team finished 3rd in the Division 3 South East after playing many tough teams from London and across the region. This season they have continued to enjoy success in Division 3 Central. They have travelled across the area to play teams from Newmarket to Black Country near Birmingham. Currently they are top of an extremely competitive table and are training hard to stay there. 
​The National League players train on alternate Tuesday evenings at Easton & Otley College and are always happy to offer help to other players wanting to develop their skills.​

Norwich Spikers Women

After winning Div 3 unbeaten in the 2015/16 season, it has been an unusual season in the history of the Norfolk Ladies' team with the highest level of injuries affecting the team in the last 16 years. This has not been the best way to start in Div 2 with 4 matches forfeited in the first half of the season!
We have fortunately now had 1 player return from injury, and with the addition of 2 new players and 2 experienced NVL players to increase the team numbers we haven't forfeited since and have been able to finally get a win and push some teams to 5 sets! Hopefully with some team training now taking place we can see out this season and start the 2017/18 season fully fit and ready for action
