The FINAL of Development league round two is this Friday and with Hariy Spikers currently sitting at the top of the leader board we couldnt be more excited- UEA 1, UEA 4, Hairy Spikers and Muffin Tops will battle it out for the Keith Nicholls Shield!!! Meanwhile Spikers United, Spikers Juniors Boys and Spikers Juniors Mixed will all also be playing for positions. If you're not playing come along and cheer your fellow Spikers on!
Also in News this week we have the imminent Charity Volleyball sociol tournament- On Wednesday 28th March (in place of training that week) Norwich Spikers will be hosting the first Intra-club charity volleyball tournament and we want YOU to get involved! As you may be aware, some of our members are fundraising for Childreach by trekking the Inca trail in Peru later this summer so to help get them on their way (and to get everyone together as a bit of a social) we'll be holding this tournament on the Wednesday evening between 7 and 10pm. The idea is to keep it as a fun evening of matches, mixing up all the players of different abilities to have a laugh and get to know each other better. We are currently collecting names of people wishing to get involved and will then set about sorting everyone into teams, hopefully with a mix of new, experienced, juniors and adults in each team but we need you to let us know if you fancy taking part! We are anticipating at the moment an entry fee of £4.50 per person with matches running between 7 and shortly after 10pm and with each team guaranteed at least three games, more if they get into semi-final/final round. There will prizes for play and fancy dress so start thinking up team-themes! Any quieries about tournament email [email protected] or [email protected] . See you all at training tomorrow- 7-9pm Haydn Morris Hall, UEA Sportspark! Hello!
Spikers training this Wednesday evening 7-9pm, Haydn Morris Hall @ the Uea Sportspark. All welcome! Looking forward to seeing you there. In News this week we had the Eastern Region tournament last Sunday- congratulations to all teams involved- there were some really close matches and great play. Development league is down to the penultimate week this week with our Hairy Spikers team STILL sitting at the top of the league- Well done guys! Please come along to support our players and cheer them on! Junior training will be happening on Saturday but at the delayed times- all junior members will hopefully have heard about this from Tomasz but do email if any queiries. Hello!
Training this week (Weds 7-9pm Haydn Morris Hall, UEA Sportspark) will be going ahead as usual....it was great to see a couple of new faces last week and we look forward to welcoming any other new players that fancy giving Volleyball a try in the coming weeks. Following a really productive committee meeting last week, look out for a few changes we're going to trial in the coming weeks/months as well as the first Norwich Spikers intra-club tournament!! More details to follow... :) We have three weeks of Development League left and with the Hairy Spikers team currently sitting at the top of League A and Spikers United at the top of League C its looking great! Good luck to all players for this week....and remember EVERYONE is welcome to come and join us in the UEA bar after play on Friday night (usually about 10.20pmish!) Happy Snow day!!
News this week: Training as usual on Wednesday but there's no advanced session this week. There is, however, a committee meeting later on Wednesday evening so if you have any ideas/ queries for the club please dont hesitate to let us know so we can discuss any ideas. Email [email protected] or speak to one of your committee members at training. Congratulations to Peter Frazer, Jackson Wheeler, Tomasz Morawski and Frances Arnold on becoming level IV referees- they are all now qualified to referee up to local league level. Following both a double page article in the local newspaper and a brilliant radio interview last week Spikers have had a number of enquiries from potential new players so we look forward to meeting them! Remember you can always let us know if you have any news you'd like to share with the club at the above email address. See you Wednesday! |
