It’s easy to run out of superlatives to describe the ladies NVL team. For their second league fixture, they took two wins out of two, dropping just a single set. This is the sort of performance and result that, with the right sort of momentum, can carry the team through the season towards that end goal of being at the peak of the league table.
The first game against Tamworth Spartans was a 3-1 win for the girls in a close-knit match against a team that defends really well. The scoreline was 25-18, 25-19, 25-23, 25-23 and Sarah-Jane was named MVP after the match. Loughborough Students are new to the league this season and their frailness was easy to take advantage of as Spikers played through a weak defence to take a 3-0 win. The scoreline reflects the superiority of the team at 25-16, 25-14, 25-15, in which Agnieszka Kowalska was named MVP.
The girls seem to show no signs of letting up and with a team unity that seems to have found a well-established balance, they can only keep on getting better, and I, for one, feel sorry for the rest of the teams in the division.
